What she had was a condition that frightened people, a silence others mistook for absence, and a dignity the world had stopped noticing. She was not a problem to be solved. She was a person who needed a home.<\/p>\n<p>CURE Illam was founded on 6 June 2019 because some people could not walk past that.<\/p>\n<p>We are a residential rehabilitation home, not a hospital. The men and women who come to us have already passed through crisis. What they need now is something more patient and more personal: a structured, caring environment where they can recover function, rebuild confidence, learn skills, and find a path back into the life of their family and community.<\/p>\n<p>Today, CURE Illam cares for 50 women living with mental illness and 46 men with intellectual disabilities &#8211; 96 people, each with a name, a history, and a future we are committed to.<\/p>\n<h6><strong><b>Our Foundation<\/b><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>CURE Illam is run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose charism is to seek out those most forgotten and to remain with them. Our work is grounded in the Mental Health Care Act 2017, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, and the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities &#8211; the conviction that persons living with mental illness and intellectual disabilities are not objects of charity, but bearers of full and inalienable human dignity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>We do not see our residents as cases.
